I absolutely adored this book, even though I read it wayyyy later than everyone I know. Better late than never, right? I'd like to come back to this and review it more thoroughly at some point, but I will say: believe the hype. It really is *that good.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I read this because of it’s popularity, but the synopsis didn’t seem all that exciting to me. As I started reading though, I became sucked in to the story and loved every bit if it. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the writing, I enjoyed the storyline, I enjoyed how unpredictable it was, I enjoyed how it read as if Evelyn Hugo was a real person… I just overall really enjoyed it!

I see what the hype was about and I wish I’d read this sooner! I loved how the book is set up as a series of Evelyn’s memories and then switches to Monique’s inner dialogue and personal struggles. I loved the suspense the author built up in revealing Evelyn’s big secret - why she wanted to work with Monique. A lot of lessons to be learned from Evelyn’s life. Throughly enjoyed this book for being simultaneously fun and poignant.
