I enjoyed this audiobook far more than expected. I must say that this was due in great part to the splendid narration by Alan Cumming, Tim Curry, Simon Vance, Katherine Kellgren, Susan Duerden, John Lee, Graeme Malcolm, Steven Crossley, Simon Prebble, and James Adams. I can easily see how it was nominated for the 2013 Audie Award in the Classics category and won the Audie Award for Distinguished Achievement in Production.

Shelves: disappointing

Very disappointing read. The epistolary format in which it was written was difficult to endure. I just about managed to finish reading this, although towards the end I started fast-reading and skimming and skipping the endless uninteresting and boring passages. First ca.60 pages were good though. And then towards the middle of the book I thought that maybe it's not going to be so bad after all... and then it just was bad. ...more

Fascinating, thats the word I'll use for this book, a shame I haven't read it sooner, well in my case hearing it.

What I love the most, that the novel is in "epistolary format" the use of letters, diary entries, newspaper clippings, capture me.

We all know this is a work of fiction but does contains some historical references, and I always like that. And well, the birth of the Legend and a the modern form of the vampires.
