This one kept me on the edge of my seat, and definitely deserves a spot on my "nightmare fuel" Goodreads shelf. I especially liked how grounded the horror here is. Diabolical children are one thing, but the inclusion of mother Suzette's crohn's disease, and the vulnerability and sympathy it affords her character, brings another layer of precarious and "realness" to the situation. I really enjoyed this book, but looking through the spoilers, I see many people didn't. Not sure if it's because I listened to the audiobook, which had an excellent narrator - but I finished the last 10% reading the eBook, and it was still interesting. Hannah, the 7 year old daughter, is all kinds of messed up in her thinking, her hatred of her mom, and her trying to sabotage her mother. It's a believable story which was engrossing.
