First of all, I'm glad I didn't read these last few chapters earlier at the office, I'm sure I don't want to be known as the person who broke down in tears while supposed to be working. Second of all, I don't remember the last time I cried this hard for, anything really. My heart aches, I'm literally in tears, I couldn't see the screen clearly when I was reading from all the tears streaming down my face and now I can't even write a decent review. But this book captures, War. Suffering. Humanity.

So far this book is excellant, the writer really captures the fear of the people during WW2. The story is being told by Death, who is usually just a casual observer but has taken a liking to the main charachter a teenage girl who is coping with Nazis, and the loss of her brother by stealing books.

Excellent book, beautifully written, great use of language. This was another option at my school for summer reading and frankly I think we should use this text in the classroom. It's eloquent beyond words (ha ha get it). Great for teaching imagery, verbal irony, characterization and history.

Few days ago while scanning what to read next, came across reviews for this book. Though I am not a big fan of holocaust fiction and my first from this author but I have to admit it's simply amazing and one of best books I read in some time. The author has truly touched all colors of life and one of very few books that's heartbreaking and yet so heartwarming.
4.5 stars just because the pace was a bit slow to my liking and a thumbs down for occasional intrusion of the narrator.
