Fascinating! Susan Orlean tells the story of the catastrophic fire at the Los Angeles Central Library in 1986, the subsequent investigation and recovery of the library. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook, although I was less interested in the life of the likely arsonist of the 1986 fire at the Los Angeles Public Library than hearing about the history of the library and details of those that had a hand in running it. The library has had quite a cast of characters, from Mary Foy who headed up the library as an 18-year-old in 1880 and foresaw the trend of lending useful items other than books, to Althea Warren who thought that a librarian "must read as a
