A bunch of loosely woven essays on memory of a gross injustice ultimately forming a loose semblance of a plot.

"There There" opens with a prologue about the painful history of Native Americans culminating in many Natives moving to the cities. The author is an "Urban Indian" himself, growing up in Oakland, the setting for this novel. The story is told in a series of vignettes about twelve characters in this California city.

Very good story. Really makes you think. Totally different from my usual genres I read (true crime, mystery)
The only bad thing I have to say is there is a lot of characters to keep track of.
