Woohoo! Five stars!
Some reviewers say that the first 175 pages or so of Carry On are dull and dreary, and they complain that it's not Harry Potterish enough. Well, then, this book is written for me because I'm not all that keen on the Potterverse, and I LOVE dull and dreary stories.

This book was such fun to read, as it was at once familiar and yet completely new. I loved Rowell's unique take on magic and how she injected popular culture into spells. Carry On will obviously appeal to fans of Harry Potter and Fangirl, but I think it solidly stands on its own for anyone to enjoy.
