This was such a fun read! It did not feel like a first in a series. I did not anticipate a murder mystery would be filled with such humor. I must admit that the mystery part isn't much of a mystery. I almost never figure these things out ahead of time, but I was way ahead of Wimsey.

The best of this is the characterization of both Lord Peter Wimsey and his man servant Bunter. Lord Peter Wimsey has been given a history of the hobby of solving crimes. There is even reference to a specific case, wh

i heard Albert Campion was based on Lord Peter Wimsey so i read this after those. I'd say definitely read this first those second. What a fun book! The first in the Lord Peter Wimsey series, this was a great introduction to the Sayers books. I'm not sure who my favorite character is yet: Lord Peter or his butler...

Fun banter, a surprisingly convoluted mystery (in a good way) and delightful depth of character. I hear such good things about the later books and look forward to reading more. The murderer’s final confession was too convenient, but I was pleasantly surprised by the level of medical details, in which the gory descriptions were not glossed over!
