Seriously, is "Death" really a name? Lord Peter mentions that some people rhyme it with "teeth," but he prefers to rhyme it with "breath." Really?
Bright Young Things: the idea of this glittering, exclusive group sounds fabulous. Sayers writes them to seem not so fabulous--causing a ruckus, taking copious amounts of drugs, and desperately engaging in harmful activities to fight off "boredom."
It's an odd juxtaposition against the folks working in a publishing agency who are clocking in their hour ...more

Lord Peter Wimsey goes in disguise as Death Bredon to work in an advertising agency to investigat the death of Victor Dean. Mr. Dean died after falling down a large metal staircase in the advertising agency. An okay mystery with nothing really outstanding about it. I'm not quite sure why this was on the 1001 books you must read before you die list.
