great, great book. being an introvert and having a good and thoughtful understanding of what this means, i still learned a lot from this book. cain's research for quiet seems very well done (and so interesting) and her style is engaging. i think this is one of those books that everyone should read as it will likely help open some eyes and minds and allow people to better understand and respect one another.

There was a month long break while reading this that is entirely due to tiredness and an active toddler.
I loved the insights in this book. In particular about Kait. I started this a few months after Kait started baby gymnastics. She clearly loves it, but she's been slow to warm up to the teachers and often stands observing the other kids before diving in herself. I really appreciated the research behind the book. Quiet gave me insight into my introverted tendencies and explained my ability to cross over into extroverted behavior when necessary. I wish I had read it when I was still working and while everyone was asking me what my husband and I were going to “do” in retirement, when all we were waiting for was quiet reading time and togetherness.
