Crocodile on the Sandbank was a light, enjoyable read. I loved the intersection of cozy mystery and Egyptology - à la Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile. At first, I found the protagonist Amelia Peabody to be annoyingly a little too full of herself; but either I got used to her personality, or she mellowed out as circumstances changed. Having inherited a fortune, Ms. Amelia Peabody eschews the likely drudgery of marriage and sets off for Egypt instead. She takes a ruined ingenue under her wing as a traveling companion, then, enamored by the pyramids and bat-infested tombs, falls in with an archaeological expedition. OHHHHH I have a new series with a strong heroine and now I know that 19 more books are waiting for me before the end - because this series ended a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't have asked for more two days before my holidays....

This was a mystery story set in the late 19th Century, mostly in Egypt. It was OK, I am not in a hurry to read any more in this series, but if the situation arises, I could continue it.
