A believable "account" of a Mars mission, projected into the not-too-distant future, but with the added condition that NASA has developed manned missions to Mars. Also, it's very funny. In short: Entertaining, wittily written, realistic sci-fi (all things considered), very likeable first person narrator, great for maths and science buffs, humorous, and of course: gripping!

Wow. Tears flowing

Amazing book. Trapped on a planet. Presumed dead one man fights for survival. Told with humor and heart this book is a immediate call for the power of the humane mind to solve problems. The movie is coming soon. People you're not going to be able to catch your breath. Cheers to The Martian

This was an interesting premise and story. The language almost undid me; thee people are supposed to be insanely smart, is there best curse word the F word repeated almost ad nausea? The technical details were overdone on occasion, but a little amazing, if it is real and could work.

Wow, what a fun read. I did not find any of the science stuff at all boring. The story moved right along...lots of suspense.
