The club as a whole found this book interesting and compelling. Janis felt it was too contrived, too much of a soap opera. We had a very lively, intense discussion about guilt and about right and wrong.

I enjoyed this in the end, but I couldn't care about any of the different characters in the beginning, because the story jumped around so much. And although you see the first few lines of the famous letter in the book description, you don't read the letter until half way through the book. I got a little bored waiting for anything to happen. But once past that point things definitely do start to happen and all the threads come together. ...more

This felt unfinished. It was interesting that it was in Australia with some of the same issues that we have in the United States. What a mess though? One lie, one act of coward behavior, ruined so many lives. I found that unsettling. It definitely had a message.

I would recommend this.
