Having enjoyed both American Gods and The Graveyard Book, I expected good things from The Ocean at the End of the Lane and was not disappointed. I am quite sure this tale deserves a second read because it is almost as deep as the ocean described. It is about loss, about mistakes, about overcoming trauma and a reminder of how the world looks from the eyes of a 7-year-old exposed to things he is too young to understand. In a word: enchanting.
