I read so many Agatha Christie mysteries when I was younger, and Hercule Poirot was my favorite!!! Yay! My book club chose this book for their January 2015 discussion. Since this is the first H Poirot mystery it felt a little jumbled to me. When everything was revealed at the end, it seemed to take a long stretch of the imagination to tie all the loose ends together. I'm embarrassed to admit that, prior to reading this book, I had never read anything by Agatha Christie. Last week, PBS featured one of her books on their Masterpiece Mystery show, and I thought it was very well done. My interest was piqued as to whether the books were as good as the show. Imagine a story so compelling and so well narrated that you simply can't stop listening. That is just the way I feel about David Suchet's narration of this book. Both are worth all five stars. Of course, I've seen Suchet as Hercule Poirot on TV and he is wonderful. But his ability to handle all the other voices in the story are as masterful as his well-known interpretation of the little Belgian detective.
