Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn was a descent into madness. There is no other way to describe the anxiety I had reading this book. It's difficult to remain calm when you find the two main characters of a book absolutely vile and without redeeming character. I loathed both Nick and Amy from the start, and there is no way I can talk about why without revealing spoilers. If you haven't yet read the book, proceed with caution.

An amazingly twisted read, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It has its fair share of Americanism, nevertheless it is wisely and beautifully constructed. The two character point of view is addictive, made me very curious in a very "now is his/her turn, what could possibly come up" sort of way. The minds of the two character are not only psychotic, but irremediably so they complete each other in an ambiguously bizarre two-peas-in-a-pod style. Terrible book. Poorly written, with no real suspense. I wish I could have the time back that I wasted reading this book.

I thought this book was just okay. It was a very slow start and took forever to get remotely interesting. I had been told there was a big twist which I never saw. Was the twist about his wife framing him? If so, figured that out early on. The ending was ridiculous and I don't think this book lived up to its hype.

It took me two tries to get into this book, but I'm glad I made the effort. The second half of the book and the ending definitely made the slow start worthwhile for me.
