I'm still pondering this one, the day after finishing. Did I like this book? Can I appreciate it without enjoying it? I think, finally, the answer I've come up with is "yes."

If only for the sheer determination it takes to plan, organize, and deliver a plot that caters to highly intelligent, three-steps-ahead characters, I must reward Gillian Flynn with 4 stars. I had to let this book simmer for a few days before I rated it. On the one hand, it was a completely compelling read. On the other... Wow! A whole bunch of crazy going on. I think overall I realized I couldn't find a likeable character in the bunch but they were believably unlikeable and the book kept me interested until the end. Worth the interest and the long wait to get it from the library. ...more
