Audiobook Notes at the end.
I don't know about this book, I didn't love it. But I rarely love any book that follows a ton of hype. I should really learn to stay away from them. :)
I've always admired authors who write mystery thrillers. Fitting in all the little details that someone will catch on to if they're reading closely, but they're likely to miss until they all add up in the end. Flynn is a master of this. There are so many small mysteries within the larger mystery and the book is very well ...more

I'm not even sure where to begin with my thoughts. I've been participating in a Q&A on this, a "answer questions as you read" kind of thing. My feelings for the people in this book have been all over the place. It's so hard to really review this book without giving things away. I admit I was sucked into the suspense, the drama, the wondering how much of what I was reading was true (it's written by two very opposing perspectives and I really liked that aspect). I've read so many "I hated the endi

Usually for me to keep reading a book, I have to like at least one of the main characters. This is one of the few exceptions--I couldn't stand either one of the main characters, yet I devoured the story of their disintegrating marriage within a few days. Part of what kept me glued to the page was how well Flynn handles the alternating first-person voices. I love first-person POV (which means I'm a little picky about it:) and Flynn uses it to its full advantage here as an in-depth character study

I was really surprised by this novel which took me on twists and turns that I never saw coming (which doesn't happen very often). Not for everyone as the author gives you characters who are not very likable, but that did not keep me from turning the page.

p 42... Amy is flighty, classic chick-lit. Nick is a withdrawn ass. But this book is beloved, so OK ...
p219. I knew it.
p 242. Andie is so poorly drawn. I can't believe someone so stupid exists.
p146-7. Really? I mean .... really?
p280. OK. Good.
p352. If this is going where I THINK it's going ... Good Grief.
p358. So .. All the women are bad. And the asshat dad speaks wisdom through his dementia. OK.
p371. Gee Whiz.
p380. I hope the cops are still non-dumb.
END. After all that ... Really? That's it? ...more
