I had a hard time putting this book down so I might have spent an entire weekend day doing nothing but reading. It is a very good book, with an unlikable protagonist - he is not that bad and he learns a lot by the end of the book but, ugh, I wished to slap him a bunch of time while reading (he blames everyone else for the mistakes in his life).

I'm changing my rating to 4.5 stars for this book. My initial enthusiasm was tempered by Grossman's blatant plagarism of the fantasy of Harry Potter, The Hobbit, and Narnia. However, I've changed my mind and decided this works for Grossman. What is wrong with incorporating important literary works into the plot line as long as the final product is admirable? ... Other authors do this with non-fantasy based works all the time.
