This book is 3.5-stars for me. I read the book while listening to the audiobook through the Scribd app.
I wish the narrator of the audiobook had an Australian accent and not a British one.
I bought the book because I wanted to watch the movie and me as many of us bookworms that like to read the book before watching the film.
I am happy that I gave a chance to this book, it is very atmospheric. The life of Light watcher is hard and lonely; I loved the descriptions of Janus Rock.

Ah well, wound up tossing The Light Between Oceans after 75 pages .... actually, after 75 pages I started skimming, and skimmed the rest of the book in 20 minutes. It's not badly written, just very predictible (maybe there's a surprise on p 175 that I missed), and I didn't care for the ending. I'd take a look at her next novel, if she writes one.

I cried through the entire second half. Heartbreaking and hard to put down.
This lovely book was so much more than I expected. I've been trying not to read synopses and this one caught me off guard. I had no idea what a truly original plot line I'd find and what wonderful characters were waiting for me. The writing was beautiful, the characters flawless, and I was left wanting nothing from this great read.
