This was an enjoyable escape from reality, and at the same time too many of the people and behaviors were all too possibly real. The footnotes were wonderful and almost a story in themselves. But I'd like to add my own footnote to the authors: "Seems to me," to use the words of Adam the Antichrist, that those maggots were gross and unnecessary and over-the-top, Neil & Terry!

Re-read for SRC, but listening to the audio this time around.
It's been awhile since I read the print version, but I feel like I enjoyed it more. Whether that was a format thing or the time when I read it, I don't know. Some books just resonate more at certain points or in specific moods.
The audio was good and the narrator did a great job with the different voices for each character.
Even though my rating went down a little, I'm still really glad I re-read it. ...more
