Absolutely loved this one -- one of the best books I've read in the last couple of years! There's a little of everything in this story: mystery, love, deceit, betrayal, adultery, incest, ghosts, fairy tales. Ultimately, it is a story about family, and the lengths to which people will go for those that they love. ...more

There were some details I figured out from the beginning, but the telling was so good that I never got bored. If you love mysteries, this is a must read. But be patient. It's meant to be enjoyed slowly. A perfect read for a rainy day or a long drive ...more

Sadly, not my favorite Kate Morton. The writing is beautiful, but I didnt find the story all that engaging. There were too many POVs to follow (8!) and it wasn't even clear there was a mystery for most of the book. Once it was clear what the reader thought was true wasn't actually, the twist was pretty obvious. ...more
