This was an interesting idea - based on a whole series of unusual photographs which the author had found, it seemed he weaved a strange story about a group of very peculiar children. The story hung together well, and didn't require too much of a suspension of disbelief, but I did find that at times it was shoehorned a little artificially into the photographs. The edition I read was really lovely to hold, and the photos were interesting to look at but, although this is obviously the first of the ...more
