08/04/2022: Reread on audiobook!

I can't believe that I never left a review the first time that I read this. This book was abso-freaking-lutely fantastic! It was mesmerizing from the very first page. I was totally engrossed in the story. I love Meyer's writing style and her storytelling is fantastic. I loved the plot twists and the interesting way that the author orchestrated this unique retelling of Cinderella. The parallels were really exciting to see unfold. I reread this again because I really want to finish this series and I needed a refresher on this book before I could move on. I'm somewhat OCD that way. I think I enjoyed it more this time then the first 2 times I read it. I loved Cinder and Prince Kai and Iko is awesome

This was a re-read for me and I didn't love it the first time I read it. I liked it and wanted to love it the way everyone else did but I thought it was wordier then it needed to be. This time around reading it I thought the book I reread this again because I really want to finish this series and I needed a refresher on this book before I could move on. I'm somewhat OCD that way. This was a re-read for me and I didn't love it the first time I read it. I liked it and wanted to love it the way everyone else did but I thought it was wordier then it needed to be. This time around reading it I thought the book was amazing. I listened to it on audio and was very entertained (why did it take me so long to read books on audio...especially re-reads)

I rated it 5 stars because I felt I had to because everyone I knew and watched on booktube raved about it and I was so new to fantasy of any kind that I figured I must not have been in the right head space while reading it. Anyway I now love fantasy and I am no longer new to the fantasy world and I loved this book and can rightfully give it the 5 stars it deserved. It is not the strongest book in the series but one that is just as good as all the others. It builds the world and characters so the stage is set for all the books that come after it. I caught a few things this time I didn't catch the first time. I love when that happens.

Cinder is a retelling of Cinderella but she is a Cyborg she believes when she was very young she was in a car accident and she was put back together. She is now a mechanic in New Beijing and the Prince has sought her out to repair his robot so he can get info that she had for him about the missing but presumed dead princess of Lunar. He finds himself falling for Cinder and she feels the same but she can't tell him about her being a cyborg or she feels he will not like her any longer. There is a plague taking the life of so many on Earth and the only way to cure it is for the prince to marry the queen of Lunar to which Kia doesn't want to do but may not have a choice if he wishes to save his people from this plague because of course the queen has the antidote.

This book has many twists and turn in it that keeps you interested and the characters all have such amazing backgrounds and finding out about each one is what keeps you reading as well. I look forward to my favorite book in this series and that's Scarlet. We will learn more about Cinder and what role Scarlet plays in Cinders life. ...more

Good book, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to more. In some places the plot moved a little slowly. I liked the idea for the world and the character.
