This book is from the long list of MIL picks that I am constantly trying to catch up on. This is the first Ann Patchett book that I have read and I can't wait to read more. While there were certainly parts of the story that were slow moving, I found that I didn't care because I was lost in the description of the scenery. The description on Rodrigo's store in Manaus brings forth images of towering stacks of goods that only Rodrigo knows the contents and placement of. The description of the Amazon
