I think this work gets a bad rap because of the success of the Hunger Games but I found this book to be very compelling and able to stand alone. The Hunger Games is not a Young Adult book in my opinion but closer to Adult Future Fiction, whereas Divergent is more in the Young Adult realm.

So...this book is a lot like eating potato chips...you know they're bad, but you just keep on eating because they taste good. It was a fun read, but the premise is utterly ridiculous. I had a hard time suspending disbelief anytime the factions or the history of this world are described, but after some eye rolling, I'd keep reading. It took me a while to actually get hooked into this story, but I really enjoyed this book. This dystopian society is divided into factions that control different societal roles in the community. Tris, a 16 year-old girl, is busy trying to figure out who she is and where she really belongs. She didn't fit in her old faction and her new choice is proving to be difficult. It took me awhile to get into this book but after a few chapters I couldn't put it down. I love apocalyptic -type stories so this one was pretty cool!
