I've enjoyed the other two Emily Henry books I've read, but this one just wasn't nearly as good. Poppy and Alex meet in college - polar opposites - she can't wait to get out of their hick town and see the world, he's fine being a homebody. But for the next ten years they travel together once a year and have a great time. It's Same Time Next Year meets When Harry Met Sally (in fact, Henry says Harry and Sally inspired the story). I loved the banter between Poppy and Alex, and I enjoyed their friendship and the travels. But, the back and forth "I'm afraid" stuff was painful, and every character other than those two was flat.
