What Members Thought

Many people with similar taste as my own gave this book 5 stars. Hmmmm. I saw the movie today (home sick) and decided I should read the book as well. At 183 pages, it wasn't too hard. I'm not the only person to find it meh, so I'm not alone, at least. Most of the complaints revolved around language (F-bombs abound) and sexual content, but to complain about that with this book you must not read 65% of YA published today. My complaint is with the writing. Too much wordplay, too many paragraphs tha

Doing some YA reading and I just loved this very lyrical VERY highschool drama book!
I loved the angst, the drama and the issues. But, I don't know that this is a great YA book that translate well to adults. I think I just love YA enough to love it (and to feel a little silly for loving it so much).
There were so many times I actually laughed out loud about this book and some parts that the lyrical and poem quality were so wonderful, I had to read it out loud to my husband (while he looked at me ...more

Actual Rating: 2.5 Stars
While there were many "quotable" passages, some even profound, I found that I couldn't relate to these characters at all. As an adult, one of the reasons I still enjoy the Young Adult genre is because I can still place myself back in that time. But not this book, not these characters. I suppose if I read this book as a teenager I would still not have related.... It just wasn't my cup of tea. ...more

This was a cute, quick read about a couple who are getting over ex-lovers and find themselves getting to know each other over the course of one night. The punk rock element added a bit more interest. I haven't seen the film, but I think many teens will enjoy this (although the language and end scene are a bit too much for younger teens).

I was hoping for...more. This just wasn't that interesting to me. It had all the right ingredients: angsty, heart-broken puck teenagers working through past hurts and finding their way into new love. But for me it just didn't connect. I really enjoyed the British chick-lit (by two people whose names I can't remember right now) that go back and forth between a guy and a girl by two different authors, but this just wasn't close to that enjoyment. I really liked Cohn's Gingerbread books, but this d
