Many people with similar taste as my own gave this book 5 stars. Hmmmm. I saw the movie today (home sick) and decided I should read the book as well. At 183 pages, it wasn't too hard. I'm not the only person to find it meh, so I'm not alone, at least. Most of the complaints revolved around language (F-bombs abound) and sexual content, but to complain about that with this book you must not read 65% of YA published today. My complaint is with the writing. Too much wordplay, too many paragraphs tha ...more

Doing some YA reading and I just loved this very lyrical VERY highschool drama book!
I loved the angst, the drama and the issues. But, I don't know that this is a great YA book that translate well to adults. I think I just love YA enough to love it (and to feel a little silly for loving it so much).

Very cute love story with really snappy dialogue. I haven't seen the movie, but I am betting that there is no way that it will be as good as this book. I wish that I was so clever to talk like these characters.

""Boys are idiots," I tell him, sniffling. If I'm a horrid bitch from the planet Schizophrenia, it's because boys make me one."

"'My love ain't hypothetical / or pronounced for you phonetical / so it might just be heretical / if you don't love me back,'"

"The way you're singing in your sleep

While there were many "quotable" passages, some even profound, I found that I couldn't relate to these characters at all. As an adult, one of the reasons I still enjoy the Young Adult genre is because I can still place myself back in that time. But not this book, not these characters. I suppose if I read this book as a teenager I would still not have related.... It just wasn't my cup of tea.
