For someone who has never really been a fan of the fantasyworld, I was completely blown away by the first two books in Rebecca Yarros's epic Empyrean Series from the slow and steady build-up to holycraptastic wild rides astraddle the dragons in the sky!
I was completely captured and held prisoner by this author's creative world-building skills, the master plotting that moves swftly with twists, red-herrings and an all-around diversified cast of well-developed characters who simply mesmerize with ...more

I read this at the urging of my book buddy Catherine. I don't know what I was expecting. Just another dragon romance. I should have known Catherine wouldn't lead me astray!
This book has great world building and a great set of characters. Part Harry Potter, part Romeo and Juliet, and part Outlander. Can't wait to start book #2. ...more

Great story and setup. I understand it's a YA book but I could dp with less of the agonising pangs of love bits.

I loved it. Sure there are other books out there with better worldbuilding but I fell in love with the characters and the plot. The dragons are awesome, Xaden and Vi together...explosive, that ending...Shook. I saw it coming but damn, it still punched me in the gut. I'm glad i came late to this book so i have only a couple of days wait for the 2nd in the series.

I finally followed and got on the bandwagon to listen to Fourth Wing. I am not as enamored with it as a crappe-tonne of others seem to be. I do like that there is something out there for everyone and I know I like books that others don't dig. I tend to hesitate when deciding to read or listen to a book, let alone paying money for it, but I figured I might as well see what I was missing.
I will start with the good: The action and the I-did-not-see-that-coming aspects were amazing. Well drawn and ...more

This absorbed me from page 1 and didn't let go until the last page. And then the cliffhanger. What a fantastic book, I can't wait to get my hands on book 2!

This was doggone good! I didn't think it quite reinvented the fantasy wheel as some of the blurbs implied. I really enjoyed it!

Well, that a fun little romp. Well plotted and paced. Didn’t even feel the weight of the pages.
