This is my first time reading this author after hearing hype for years about other books by her. I’m surprisingly disappointed. It wasn’t a bad book, but not nearly as good as I’d expected after all the hype. The storyline and idea of the book was great, but some of the actions of the characters were hard to believe - for example, while in California they were so poor they could barley eat, yet they always had plenty of fuel in the truck.
