The Australian outback is unforgiving and dangerous. Those that live there know all too well. So when Cam, a middle brother to a troubled family, is found way too many kilometers from his car with no water in sight - there are a lot of questions the brothers and family left must grapple with.

This is an atmospheric and claustrophobic mystery. It's interesting that a mystery set in the wide open spaces of the Australian outback can feel so claustrophobic.

I really enjoyed this book and it's sense of the Australian outback.

The characters are very compelling and honest. I will definitely read another book by this author.

The other day as I was going to sleep I thought how much I'm enjoying this read and then I realised that I'm approximately halfway but nothing much has really happened! Ha! I guess the author's prose is more enjoyable than I thought.

I really enjoyed this mystery novel. It reminded me of an old fashion mystery where all the possible suspects are together and the sleuth has to determine which one did it. As the novel goes on, more and more secrets are revealed and the reader finds out that initial appearances can be deceiving. Like in the other novel I read by Harper, The Dry, the environment and setting are a character all its own.
