Taylor Jenkins Reid's writing is absolutely remarkable. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is something, something. Yes, the hype made me delay reading this book, but the truth is I liked it very much. I read the e-book through the Scribd app and listened through Audible.
The way the book was organized to take us on this journey was clever. Monique alternately narrates it. The reporter was appointed to write the biography of Evelyn (Herrera) Hugo and Evelyn herself. Going back and forth between p ...more

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I listened to it on audiobook and really enjoyed it! Such an interesting look into the possible lives of actors in Hollywood and the movie biz in the past century: how they lived such public lives open to scrutiny and judgement and couldn't really be themselves. Women, especially, were judged so much more harshly than men.

It’s very good. I like that there’s a character who finally admits girls and women know what they’re doing when they’re doing something. Women are calculating and I’m glad she finally said it.
