This is one of the creepiest books I've ever read, and I loved/hated it. I mostly loved it. I only hated that I couldn't read it at night when I was home alone and it was dark and I keep thinking that I was seeing things that weren't there. Also, I hated when I woke up in the middle of the night because I had to go to the bathroom but was too scared to get out of bed at all. I think my electricity bill went up a bit just because I had to have all the lights on.

After hearing it was kind of like The Twisted Ones I put it off as I didn't like that to much, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this one more. It's about Kara who is recently divorced, moves in with her eccentric uncle who owns a very strange museum. He has to have surgery and see looks over the museum and when a strange whole opens up in the side of wall in part of the musuem, Kara and her friend Simon go check it out and might just regret it. I quickly became a big fan of T. Kingfisher with the Saint of Steel series. I looked for other books written by her and this one came up. It's definitely not fantasy like I've been reading from her, it's horror..but with enough bits of humor..the smarta** kind I like and is in her other books...and kept it from getting too scary.
Highly atmospheric and character driven. I love the Museum of Wonders that main character, Kara, finds herself returning to so as to help her uncle and to have a place ...more
