This book caused the dilemma of whether to - not put it down or pace myself and savor every bit. The atmosphere and mystery of the village was so compelling, I found the writing/ details so perfectly creepy. I would definitely read more by Sten and I can't wait for release to buy a print copy for my shelf. ...more

Apparently I'm the odd duckling here, but I am giving this 5 stars not because it is a great literary masterpiece, but because it was effective in sucking me in and creating a creepy, scary atmosphere that, at times, had me on edge. I will admit that this book is right up my alley - creepy disappearances, strange religious sects, and a Swedish author so it might have been inevitable. I also tend to rate books higher than others.
