“...it is sad, of course, to forget.
But it is a lonely thing, to be forgotten.
To remember when no one else does.”

I loved this and I'm so glad I read it. I was skeptical, never sure if a few select authors can make me love them over and over and over again. I should have known the answer for V.E. Schwab is, of course, YES! She's moved to the very very small list of autobuy authors for me.

“Never pray to the gods who answer at night…”. What a great line, and what an interesting novel! It was definitely more of a slow-burn than a fast paced page-turner, but I did have a hard time putting it down , and I kept telling myself “just one more chapter…”. The premise of this book is clever. I recommend it on many levels---the writing is beautiful and the plot is creative. The relationships are complex and the characters intriguing. Walking through a number of historical events with Addie is fun too! I expected to rate this one 5 stars but it went on a bit too long for me so I gave it 4 stars.
Lesson learned from this book---be careful what you wish for!
