Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

I've done that before, Sonia. Though I think the most I've ever done is 6. That's quite a binge you're going to have.

message 21: by Sonia (last edited Apr 02, 2020 06:07AM) (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments yep. 12 books in 11 weeks. It's doable... But it is quite a binge. I think the most I did was 9... sure it was Mercy Thompson and its spinoff, easier to read than the Hollows... Back then I did an average of a book in two days.

BUT... I lived by myself at the time... so things like dinner on time and sleep and house chores could stay behind... as long as I didn't forget to feed the cat, all was good.

Now, not so much. But, having to be working from home, cuts on commuting time... soooo...we'll see.

message 22: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments You can do it, Sonia! Hopefully, you love the series. That will make it so much easier.

message 23: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Let's hope so. Rachel is okay, but I remember not reading book #3 at the time because her obsession on pinning all evils on a certain character was annoying me to no end.

But, is a quite popular series ... so I'm giving it another go.

Vicki Willis | 496 comments I finished 2 I had been looking forward to .

Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier Little Secrets - Amazing! Loved it! 5 stars. Could not put it down from the first page to the last.

You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks You Are Not Alone - This one was not my favorite by the author. It was a good book, but not great. I didn't find it that gripping.

I really enjoyed Little Secrets too.

Kristie | 3595 comments I finally finished a book!! This was a really good book that I would recommend to fans of historical fiction.

The Forgotten Home Child by Genevieve Graham

The Forgotten Home Child review

Edit: This review finally brings me back down to single digits with 9 books left to review and brought my ratio up to 95%. That review was rewarded nicely. lol

I need to finish the two NetGalleys that I have started, then this is my next one! I'm a little behind, but I hope to start in a couple of days.

Kristie | 3595 comments I was just approved for The Book of Lost Names The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel . Back up to 10 books and 94% lol

message 36: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I finally finished Unfollow Me Unfollow Me by Charlotte Duckworth . I thought it was good, but not great. The ending was a little underwhelming for the buildup.

Unfollow Me review

That brings me back down to 9 on my shelf and up to 95%. Feels good to be making a little progress.

Kristie | 3595 comments Well, I finished my third book this month.

Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain

Big Lies in a Small Town review

I have the unpopular opinion of thinking the book was just ok. It took forever for me to read because it dragged in the middle. I just couldn't stay engaged with it. It got better around 70% when you started to find out where all the weird things in the mural came from, but it took too long to get there and I wasn't that interested by that point.

On to the next one...

May thread is now open

(How did we get to May already? yikes!)

message 43: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 496 comments Well, I read 2 and added 1 this month, so I had a little gain in my feedback ratio. I am at 77% now.
I don't have any that publish in May, but one June 2 and one June 3 so I am planning on reading those next so they don't fall behind.
I am also hoping!! to read a couple that are past publication. I want to get caught up and be current. (Ha, doesn't everyone!?)

message 44: by Kristie (last edited Apr 28, 2020 07:57PM) (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments That's my goal too, Vicki.

Like Karen, my reading has been way down lately. I finally started to read again over the past week or two and I read 3 this month, but I was approved for 1 more.

I'm happy with that, but I also received 2 widgets that both publish in June. They aren't books that I would have necessarily requested, but they look interesting enough. I haven't been getting many widgets lately and I think it's because I keep saying no, so I am considering accepting. I also have no books publishing in May and was planning to use May to catch up on my April reads and some physical books that are past due. I'm not sure I want to overload myself with books publishing in June.

Edit - Widgets I'm considering:
Little Creeping Things by Chelsea Ichaso - pub June 2nd & All the Broken People by Leah Konen - pub June 30th

message 45: by Kristie (last edited Apr 30, 2020 12:53PM) (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Well, now I've done it. I've gone and accepted the widgets for Little Creeping Things by Chelsea Ichaso and All the Broken People by Leah Konen . I hope I am able to read them both on time! This means I break even with 3 books reviewed and 3 added this month. I'm still hoping to get all caught up in May. Good luck to me...
