To long, to boring, don't see the hype.

I liked this, especially the premise of it, but I did not love it like a lot of my friends. I was confused by the main character. She seemed to be very into traveling and experiencing life as a young child, open to different cultures and religions, but after she makes the deal, she is pretty boring for 300 years. Also, why did she stay in such Western cultures? The entire world is hers! She honestly didn't do much, and the parts of history covered were surprisingly dull....hanging out in Paris s

I give this book 4.5 stars, for a compelling story and hauntingly empathetic language.
That .5 of a star is due to the inevitable ending that I didn’t want to happen. It makes sense, but it still was rough.
I really enjoyed the story, and I think that I would explore more standalone stories like this or an Addie-world based series. I found myself highlighting a lot of quotes and I’m really happy I got to read this.

For all its size, this was a very easy, compelling read. I think Addie could have done more with 300 years of life but, oh, the loneliness!
I was a bit disappointed in the anthropomorphism of the elemental Luc, so the tale became more of a battle for, than a story of, a life. if Addie had done more with her gift she wouldn't have spent so much time ruminating about the darkness of this god.

4.5 stars
The premise of this book is clever. I recommend it on many levels---the writing is beautiful and the plot is creative. The relationships are complex and the characters intriguing. Walking through a number of historical events with Addie is fun too! I expected to rate this one 5 stars but it went on a bit too long for me so I gave it 4 stars.
