Ok, so this book laid around for a long time because I wasn't sure I would like the steampunk aspect of this story. I wonder if you could love the story but not enjoy the writing so much? Well, I didn't think the writing was that special on this one but I do love the story - I like the unfolding of the plot and I absolutely love how each character has his / her own 'secretive' past who makes them who they are now (this is the highlight for me).

I had a hard time getting through this one. The story line was almost the same with 'City of Bones', just different character names and it felt like everything was just shuffled around and inter-changed, but still the same. Had also skipped some pages and still, was able to grasp the story, not missing important parts. Perhaps these types of books are not up to par for my taste anymore. And maybe I'm just bored as hell with the same paranormal plots, impossible to like heroes and no-common sens

I enjoyed this infinitely more than the mortal instruments series and can't wait to read the next two. Although to be fair I really liked the first three mortal instruments when they were intended to be a trilogy and now that it's an on going series it just isn't very good anymore and I probably won't read the rest of them (I've read the first four so far) unless I'm extremely bored and/or don't have anything else left to read.
