Shelves: mystery, suspense, murder, island, ireland, wedding

The Guest List is a mystery set on a small island off the coast of Ireland where a wedding is taking place. The reader is held in suspense not only about who did it, but also about who was the victim. The setting of the novel was very atmospheric. None of the characters were very likeable, but the suspenseful build up of their stories was done very well. Overall it was an interesting story, but in the end it was all a bit coincidental to get the extra star from me.

I enjoyed the setting of this book, a wild island off the Ireland coast. I think that reading bits and pieces of this book at bedtime didn’t allow me to out some of the pieces together, so as things were revealed, I was struggling to remember the back stories that were bread crumbed throughout. But that is not a knock on the book at all, just an observation of how my reading of it didn’t match the kind of complexity it held.
