Simply written, an eye opener with lots of insights about what is going on from a girl’s point of view. I always wondered how people could follow fanatics who commits atrocities in the name of religion. Powerful, honest story of how Malala Yousafzai defied the fundamentalist elements in her homeland increasingly devaluing and dehumanizing women. As a young girl she vocally prodded Pakistani Muslims on the radio, on television, and at large public events, entreating them to allow their women and daughters to educate themselves--to better themselves for God. It is a miracle that Malala is alive to tell her tale. She shares her story, from growing up in Pakistan, living through the Taliban, and her life now in England.
Talk about a reality check. This book really helped me to realize how much I take for granted in America. I can't imagine living in a world where so many things are dictated to me: how I dress, who I leave the house with, even my education.
