I have NEVER been so happy to be done with a book until I read this one. This was the worst book I have ever in my life read. I thought The Hazel Wood was the worst book until I read this one. It's never taken me a month to read a book before. This books was a STRUGGLE to get through. The only reason I didn't DNF it was because Youtubers I respect said it was so good so I was holding out for the good parts.....OMG I will forever trust my gut on a book.

Like Morgenstern's debut, The Night Circus, this novel is beautifully imaginative, lyrically written, and thoughtfully composed. It also has little action, despite a premise that promises such (a handsome stranger with shifting alliances! a secret society! a "battle" raging over the fate of a hidden world!).
