What Members Thought
Oh how I loved this book! As a black girl myself, it is always nice to see representation on covers and in characters. I thought Acevedo did a great job giving the characters personalities true to the different cultures that were represented.
I definitely loved Emoni as a main character. Even though she is a teen mom, I didn't necessarily feel bad for her as there was a strength and maturity surrounding her. Emoni's passion for family and cooking was beautifully portrayed throughout the story.
