I started this book over a year ago and I really can't even say why I stopped reading it. 60% in and just stopped. Yet I was enjoying it. I think it just slows down for a large amount of time and there's chapters where nothing really takes place. If you can get past that, it's an absolutely beautiful story of love and honor. The end broke my heart even though I knew it was coming. Going into it was a lot of surprises because I never even bothered to read the synopsis before starting it. I loved ...more

What a beautiful tragedy is the love of Patroclus and Achilles. I picked this book up knowing that it would end in heartbreak, and yet I still picked it up. It was deftly written, often lyrical like the Iliad that it was based off, and I let myself be swept into the lives of these two boys to their deaths. It was worth the tears and I am glad to have finally read this.

“I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”

This was a fast-paced tale and a great version of Achilles’ story. I liked Circe more, but this is a worthy read.
