This book has been sitting on my pile to read for a while now and after reading The Cake King which was a sweet romance, I was in the mood for a bit more light-hearted reads to break up my mystery and romantic suspense novels. The Wedding Date starts with Alexa and Drew being stuck in an elevator together in the same hotel. Alexa was on her way to celebrate her sister's promotion armed with Champagne and Cheese/Crackers and Drew is in town as his friend Josh is getting married to his ex-girlfrie ...more

I started reading this because The Proposal is everywhere at the moment, so I thought I’d read this one first as it’s a better known book from the author. Although a 3.5 Goodreads rating is pretty bad... so I went in tentatively.

The whole “find a date to a wedding” is such an overdone plot line. Find a random date, then be thrown together for a few days pretending to be dating *sigh*

This was cute. Alexa meets her future boo thang after getting stuck in an elevator with him, which I thought was super unique. If a super hot guy asked me to be his +1 to a wedding, I'd say yes too! All the back-and-forth to LA/Bay got a little confusing, although I did enjoy reading about an overall successful long distance relationship. Also, the constant "he doesn't like me like that so I

Quick read, fluffy but went on too long for what the problem was. Issues the characters had didn’t seem sufficiently “troublesome” for how they were used in the plot. Just too much of some things and not enough of plot and character development.
