What Members Thought

Most of this book made me feel embarrassed to call myself human haha Bradbury definitely has a way of slicing open the human ideology and showing the reader all the beautiful and all the ugliness and greed all at once. He doesn't make any apologies, and he does it with wonderful and flowing prose that you almost don't mind, but reading this wrapped me up in a kind of melancholy that made me feel like I too was wandering a vast and lonely planet.

This is my very favorite of Bradbury's books! I love the way he uses language.

Lovely and lyrical, but not a straightforward story. More a mosaic. It's dated by its gender assumptions and the chapter about an African American emigration to Mars has some rough language (the viewpoint character is an unrepentant and unsympathetic white supremist). But I remember so many of the images and stories from reading it decades ago; the final chapter of the new immigrants is especially clear to me.
