Amani just wanna get out if Dustwalk away from her aunt, uncle who wants to marry her. So dressing up as a boy to win a game in shooting off a gun which she's good at lead her to run into a out of tower Jin.
Later she ends up saving him and him saving her lead to to find our so much more about Jin and his secrets. She ends up finding out a bit more about herself too.

Rebel of the Sands opens with a suspenseful situation as Amani, dressed as a boy, sneaked out of home and went looking for her fortune, her way out of Dustwalk. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but this beginning reminds me a little of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series; I don’t read much western so if there’s any gunslingers in a world that’s not quite our own, it’ll remind me of Roland! This book grabbed me right from the very beginning and did not let go. It was action-packed and I like that

I really enjoyed this unique world. I always find Middle Eastern mythology interesting and I appreciate fantasy works inspired by it rather than usual European mythology. The first half of the book was OK. After an interesting start it felt like it was falling into the typical YA fantasy story with the strong female character falling for a bad boy type character.
