It's ironic that two highly anticipated second novels hit shelves on the same Tuesday -- one by Harper Lee and one by Ernest Cline.

Having read both, I'd argue that Cline's fans came out better than Lee's. For one thing, Cline intended to publish Armada all along. For another, the book is just a lot more fun to read than Lee's Go Set a Watchman. Part of that could be that Armada is a completely separate novel from Ready Player One so even if it was terrible, it wouldn't necessarily be seen as tar

Since Ready Player One was one of my favorite books in the year that it was released, I had truly high hopes for this one. I think Ernest Cline has a really unique voice and I was eager to fall into the world he creates again. And this is a good book ... but it's no Ready Player One and it suffers from the comparison. I think that many of the less than positive reviews I've seen seem to be focusing on how this book wasn't Ready Player One. I really tried to see this book on it's own but it's dif ...more

Yeah, I pretty much loved this. Yes, it was cheesy, and yes, the ending smacks of wish fulfillment and everything's wrapped up neatly with a nice shiny bow, but I loved Zack and his (literally) out of this world adventures. Armada is fun. Don't expect a literary masterpiece, and try not to compare it to Ready Player One, because if you do, you'll be disappointed. ...more

I have to say it took a little longer to get into this story as compared to ready player one. a lot of back story and game jargon for the main game in the storyline. took about 70 pages for me to finally get hooked.
had a few nice surprises and a nice under current of family love.
overall an enjoyable read and I recommend it if you enjoyed ready player one. I'm definitely a fan of Ernest Cline.
