Shelves: mystery, thriller

This isn't a suspense or a mystery or a thriller and it's certainly not literary fiction (hahahahaha! NO) as the publisher claims. If you go into it knowing it's a fluffy beach read, you're good. ...more

I think comparing this book - right on the cover! - to anything Gone Girl related is a huge disservice. It meant I was waiting for this huge twist or this huge reveal that would "shock" me. I was ready to see the long con from our lovely "love to hate" heroine TifAni.

But no. It's important to know - there's no huge twist and there is no devious plot. This is a story about a survival and the cost of surviving. It's not pretty, this act to make it through, and I wish I'd known that THAT was the s ...more

I gave it three stars because I enjoyed the way the author wrote and kept me reading on. Personally the subject matter was a bit jarring and at times made me extremely angry, even though I know that was intention, it makes me a little ambivalent.
