What Members Thought

Hi. My name is Morgan, and I did not like Throne of Glass.

I am, however, unable to pass up faeries or a potential retelling. Sewwww ... This happened.

As you can already see by my star rating, I REALLY LIKED THIS. Which is crazy with how annoyed I was with Throne of Glass and the MC... and basically all of it's everything.

I can see shades of Beauty and the Beast in this, but I also think Feyre is a bit more of the Beast than the Beauty in a lot of ways. (AND I LIKED IT.) She wasn't some simpering

I loved it! Can't wait to continue the series!

Read #2 (December 2020): 3.5 stars
I didn't enjoy the story as much this go around, but it's okay because I know ACOMAF is going to be THAT BOOK for me I'm so excited!

I will admit, I had some trouble getting off the ground with A Court of Thorns and Roses.

The story is a retelling and I felt that much of the beginning was unoriginal. Granted there was the introduction of the Fae to give it a spin, but the basics were all there and predictable. The cursed Beast who is running out of time. The curse that keeps a masquerade mask in place on the face of every Spring Court Fae (instead of turning them all into animate inanimate objects). The Beast who is trying to

Why I picked it up:

I received this one from Bloomsbury in exchange for an honest review. I actually picked it up and started reading it a couple of times, before finally sitting down and committing to it 100%.

Original review -- here

Considering the fact that I liked it so much the first time around, I wasn't expecting to have one of those "keep reading the book way past when you really should have already put the kindle down and gone to bed" moments this time around.

But I did. Twice.

Last night I finished it and immediately started in on A Court of Mist and Fury.

#fingerscrossed that things stay this good.

Fantasy - I like the romance, the world, the characters and the story in general. But... what really sticks out in this book is the weakest set up for the next book I have EVER read- I don't we're in spoiler territory to say Rhysand makes it to the end of the book. The set up occurs close to the end of the book Rhysand is in the middle of a discussion and... poof! gets startled and is yanked out of the scene never to reappear- no more information is given. By implication we're pretty sure he's n ...more

I enjoyed the book, it was a quick read. It didn’t grab my the way other YAs of a similar genre have, but I will keep reading the series and hope it gets better or at least is entertaining.
