I couldn't put it down. I was determined to find out who was killed.

Gossip, secrets, family drama oh my.
Interesting I enjoyed the mystery of the story with suburban mom's and their drama.

Now I'm determined to watch the show now.

4 🌟 2nd read 4/2020

Madeline is divorced with a teenager and two younger kids from her second marriage. She's friend with Celeste, a beauty with twins and a seemingly perfect life. They both befriend Jane, a single mom. All three have kids starting kindergarten. From the beginning you know someone dies at the schools trivia night but it takes most of the book to find out who. I liked all three women and their stories. I think the events of the trivia night were a bit of a let down considering all the suspense leadi ...more

Wow. I was worried about how thick this book was when I picked it up from the library after a lengthy wait on the hold list, but I couldn't put it down! I didn't care for the vehicle the author used for the unfolding of the story (the journalistic quotes about an event that we haven't gotten to yet in the timeline). I found it confusing to introduce disembodied character names that way, but setting that aside, this story was surprising which is impressive given that the subject matter has been w ...more

I enjoyed the way the narrative of the book went with the crime storyline weaved throughout the book leading up to the current time. Clever.
The 3 main characters are 3 women that are unlikely to be good friends. Madeline who seems to be having an age crisis because she's turning 40. She has a spunky personality that I loved. Celeste, who is portrayed a stunning, wealthy woman that (seems) to not have a care in the world. Jane, who barely looks old enough to have a child. The way she is described

What first appears to be a story about cliques within the school community, eventually turns into more as truths about the characters are revealed. In the beginning of the book, we learn that something bad happened at the school's trivia fundraiser. Then the story is rewound to reveal the events leading up to trivia night and eventually what happened and to whom. This book did an excellent ...more

I liked it a lot, maybe one of the best summer reads ever. Definitely a chick flick of the best kind, with everything in it: desperate housewives, friendships, quarrels, little lies and bigger lies, husbands who cheat, husbands who are lovely, parents' trivia night, love in the Blue Blues cafe, and even murder. An amazing array of emotions woven together beautifully. ...more
